Order Settings
The Order Settings section allows you to configure rules that control the value of customer orders. These settings help you manage operational efficiency, prevent unprofitable sales and ensure your team can handle order volumes effectively.
To access these options, log in to your Admin Panel and go to: Settings > Orders

Small Order Fee
The Small Order Fee allows you to add a fixed charge for orders that fall below a certain threshold.
- Purpose: This covers costs such as packaging, staff time and delivery when customers place very small orders that may otherwise be unprofitable.
- Example: You could apply a £2.00 fee for orders under £20.00, ensuring that operating costs are balanced.
- When to Use:
- To discourage very small basket values.
- To ensure each order contributes fairly towards overhead costs.
- Configuration:
- Enter the desired fee amount.
- Leave blank or set to 0 if you do not want to apply a small order fee.
Maximum Order Amount
The Maximum Order Amount allows you to limit the highest total value an order can reach.
- Purpose: This is useful for managing kitchen workload and delivery capacity, especially if extremely large orders could overwhelm staff or disrupt normal service.
- Example: You could set a maximum order value of £250.00, preventing customers from placing bulk orders that may not be practical to prepare within a normal service window.
- When to Use:
- To maintain manageable order sizes during peak hours.
- To prevent errors, delays, or customer dissatisfaction caused by very large orders.
- Configuration:
- Enter the maximum order amount you are willing to fulfil.
- Leave blank or set to 0 if you do not want to restrict order totals.
Best Practices
- Analyse past sales data to decide whether a small order fee or maximum order amount is appropriate for your business.
- For special events or catering services, you may wish to adjust maximum order limits or manage large requests separately.
- Review these settings regularly to ensure they align with your current costs, staffing capacity and business strategy.
Summary
The Order Settings feature gives you control over the value of orders placed through your online system. By setting a Small Order Fee, you can protect your profit margins on low-value sales, while the Maximum Order Amount ensures your team is not overwhelmed by unmanageable requests. Both options are flexible and can be left unset if you prefer not to apply restrictions.
